Viola and Cello: 3 Centuries of Duets

Kendra Grittani, cello, has years of experience performing solo, chamber and orchestral works, and is dedicated to providing breathtaking and enchanting music for any occasion. Described as playing with “authority, grace and artistry…” following her most recent performance of the Haydn Cello Concerto in D with the Oakville Symphony Orchestra, Kendra Grittani has performed in venues across Canada and the United States. Kendra has completed her Masters in cello performance at McGill University with accomplished symphonic and chamber musician, and cello professor, Elizabeth Dolin. Kendra Grittani has a passion for connecting modern audiences with all forms of Classical music. In a world where Classical music is becoming more and more inaccessible, attending a concert organized and curated by Kendra means experiencing a historically informed musical performance, while receiving insight into how a musician reads, prepares and performs Classical music, along with other genres.

Alexandra Simpson, viola, based in Emeryville, plays in several orchestras, and serves as Principal Violist Fresno Philharmonic and Assistant Principal at California Symphony. She studied with Kim Kashkashian at New England Conservatory, Ettore Causa at Yale School of Music, and Dmitri Murrath at San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She also has performed with a number of pop acts, including Kygo, Sigur Ros, Andrea Bocelli, and Michael Bublé.

BMC 2019 Fundraiser

***Honoring*** ***Susan Bates**, Founder of the Young Chamber Musicians***.

BMC’s 2019 Honoree is Susan Bates who was our keynote speaker at the BMC Annual Luncheon, held on October 13, 2019. Ms. Bates was introduced by longtime friend and colleague, *Ben Simon*, the Music Director of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. Our guest performer was the Arcturus Trio (Ajay Mallya, Kevin Yang and Catherine Choi), one of 7 chamber groups under the Youth Chamber Musician’s program.

2018 Holiday Bazaar

Our December 10th Meeting was highlighted by our annual Holiday Bazaar where many of our members and supporters showcase their special creative skills while helping BMC to raise additional funds for our student music competitions. Beautiful crafts, delicious homemade delights and impressive art — what a great time was had by all!

BMC 2018 Fundraiser

BMC's annual luncheon and fundraiser was held on October 14, 2018 at the Elk's Lodge in San Mateo. Close to 80 guests enjoyed personal reflections from Dr. William Wellborn, this year’s honored guest, and a inspired (and fun!) performance by Nathan Chan.
